I'm seeing a lot of threads appearing (due to BF3) where people are discovering that their graphics cards can't hold the overclock they came with.

Are manufacturers really shipping cards with overclocks that don't work?

I can agree with that.

Could not get game to run stable at stock setting and after a month of fiddling with everthing found it was core at stock causing issues for me.

Temps and voltage was not an issue it was simply to untable at STOCK settings.

But to be fair no other game pushes GPU like this my card ramps up to 100% usage no other game does this, its like running a stress test all day:eek:

My concern is how much load like this can a card take have Dice made game to kill GPU's:rolleyes:

MSI Lightning 6870

There's always a few cards around like this (any make/model can be effected). I myself returned a Gigabyte 580 GTX a couple of months back that wasn't stable at the stock OC, though this was obvious right from the start. Could have edited and flashed the BIOS myself, but wasn't happy having to do this on a card that came in at the best part of £400.

One of the cards hit quite hard in this way, was a number of the 560ti's. Some of which were coming with pretty high OC's out of the box. You've only got to look at say the MSI/Gigabyte user forums to see the number of posts about this. Though quite aware that not everyone had this issue.

Not convinced that BF3 stresses a card much higher than say Crysis2, or a number of other top/new games. A number of threads I've seen along these lines have been with folks who bought a new card specially for BF3 (so probably have not really pushed it that hard yet). Only anecdotal evidence here though.

I've tried BF3 beta and I can't say at 1080 it seemed to push my system any harder than anything else I've tried / played and mines OC'd to 880Ghz on the core.

Only my personal experience / opinion here though folks :):):)
