Hi guys.

Im having a bit of trouble with some unstable RAM.

I am using two "OcUK 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz" Dual Channel Kit's.

Now three of the sticks run stabale at 2.1v (thats + .3 in the BIOS) and pass memtest without earror.
But the last stick wont run stable untill i push it to around 2.45v (thats + .6 in the BIOS).

and the other three wont run stable at anything over 2.35v, and as the operating peramaters of the RAM
are between 2.0v and 2.3v would this be reasonable grounds to send one of the Kits back for replacment.

p.s.

sorry about any spelling mistakes, I havent installed word yet and im crazy with the dyslexia.

Are all four sticks stable when installed individually or with 2 sticks in dual channel only?

If each kit is stable on its own under specified voltage and timings then you can't return it as faulty I'm afraid.

No the kit isnt stable on its own. I have tested both kits seperitly and togeather and eatch stick individualey.

If both kits won't do specified specs on its own then I'd RMA both, just explain it clearing in the RMA form.

so you are saying that becouse both kits wont operate at a minimum of 2.0 that i should send both back and get two kits that operate at a minium of 2.0v.

I just want to be 100% sure thats what you mean.

Just looked at the OCUK PC8500 kit and realised the default voltage is from 2-2.3V.

In this case then if both kits won't do PC8500 1066Mhz at 5-5-5-18 2.3V individually I'd RMA both.

There are a few other members here that I'm aware of also had problems running 4 sticks of OCUK PC8500 kits, but is stable when used individually.

one of the kits will do 2.3v but it wont do 2.0. so your saying if they are stable at 2.1 but cant do 2.0 then send tham back.

No.

Since the specified voltage is upto 2.3V if it can run advertised speed and timings at 2.3V but not 2.2V then I don't think you can RMA since it is advertised to run at 2.3. That's what I meant.

But then I can't be 100% sure so writing a webnote to the tech support is the best thing to do. They will be able to give better suggestion as to whether you should RMA.

thanks m8 your advice has been invaluable.
Ill send a web note frst thing in the morning. One of the kits is definitly going back as it wont operate at all when they are in dual channel mode. and when used individually one of them wont run untill its over 2.4v.

so thanks for all your help
