Unstable system - could it be memory?

Hi all

Since I have had this system, it seems to be unstable.

The computer just freezes - no BSOD etc etc

I called Overclockers tech support, who suggest I take the over clock off the CPU (by removing the CMOS battery for a while whilst uplugged) which I have done.

Thought that had solved it, but it just froze again! :(

Just so I can rule out memory issues, can someone help and give me the setting in the BIOS that the memory should be set at? (I haven't done this for ages!!)

I have a Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2H mobo, with 8gb of RAM (2 x 4gb Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600Mhz Dual channel).

Other details are:-
CPU - i7 870 2.93 ghz (Nehalem) socket 1156
GeForce 580 GTX
Windows 7 HP

It could be the RAM.

The easiest way to set up the RAM is to enable the XMP profile.

Go to MB Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T.) then Advanced Frequency Settings and set Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P.) to enabled.

OK, thanks - it only had the disable and profile options....

It was on disabled and I switched it to Profile 1.

I also changed the settings to AUTO when I was 'allowed' to....

Here is hoping!!
