Hi

I have been getting random lock ups for months now (since I added ssd drive and re-installed xp but dont think its related?). Sometimes I get blue screen with memory page fault, sometimes it justs locks up when watching videos, occasionally it will lock up just idle/browsing.

The page fault which I got this evening has been coming up more frequently which makes me think RAM but I have tried it with 1 stick instead of the 3 and still got locks ups (with 2 different sticks!). Initially I had a funny issue months ago when the display kept going on/off and I thought there was some issue with the gfx card but I have 2 different cards (1 x 4870 and 1 x 4890) and I cant believe both are faulty or dont like the m/b?.

Starting to think it must be the m/b itself which is the issue unless anyone can suggest anything else to try?, as otherwise I'm going to have to buy another m/b and then I will end up spending lots of money using it as an excuse to upgrade lol.

First thing I would look at is the ram. Try running memtest one stick at a time to see if you can locate a rogue!

Might be something else causing problems, but that is where I would start anyway. Don't suppose you're running any kind of overclock, that may cause an eliment of instability?

I have memtest on a CD, I did run it overnight a long time back and it had passed everything but I might give it another go as you reminded me. No overclocking at all, I set it all back to defaults to eliminate that as the issue. If memory was cheaper I would buy some more, dont really fancy buying 2nd hand ram for obvious reasons..
