hey guys/girls got a question for you lot to answer.

iv been runing my new rig now for 6/7months ish

i have an opty 146 @ 3ghz 1.55v

when i first clocked it about 5/6 months ago, it was 100% stable

i got a ss of prime running for 18hours but now prime 95 wont go longer then 5 mins no matter what fft i use.

could this be caused by my ram (crucial balistix pc4000 2gb kit)

i have not ran memtest yet will do tonight.

if u need any other info just shout

thanks

Put your RAM on a bigger divider and try again. Failing that it would point to your CPU no longer being able to do 3GHz stable. This could either be due to increased temperatures (summers coming) or that the CPU has been damaged by excessive voltage/heat.

Any idea what your full load temperature is?

The same happened to me a while ago. Could be like jokester says but mine was down to the memory dying and as you have ballistix its a high chance. What voltage were you running through them? Also have you tried backing the clock down to around 2.8-2.9 and seeing if its stable then?
Run memtest first

temps are 35c idle and bout 49-50c at full load

1.55v on the core

2.6 going through balistix

all voltage rails are fine

everything runs fine, i get no crashes.

i play a lot of games they all run fine even after long periods of time

CAS 3-3-3-7

memtest been running for 8 mins and it has found 4 errors on test 6 first pass

does not look good :(

ill leave it run a few hours and update you.

test 6 is a weird one for errors to be found on if it was an overclocking issue. Sounds likely that they are dying. Tests 5 and 8 normally indicate too tighter timings or too higher clock. Back them back to 250 at the same timings and see what happens

Not sure what the default volts are but you might be able to get a bit higher at 2.7v but with ballistix failing so much i wouldnt risk too higher volts through them. Have you tried running them at 200mhz with tight timings and then putting memory on 2:3 divider and so run your cpu at 300x10?
