Unsuccessful Windows reinstall

Hi,

Probably a dozey question but I've just updated my BIOS and am now unsuccesfully trying to reinstall Windows from disc. I've set the boot priority to the DVD drive and after getting passed the BIOS splash screen it asks if I want to load/boot from DVD. After hitting any key it shows a loading bar then when it gets to the Windows loading screen it just hangs?

Anyone got any ideas to help this muppet out? :)

Did you change anything else in BIOS? Might be worth resetting bios settings, Also what was the release notes on the updated BIOS what did they fix/change or break.

Does it hang on the screen where you can move the mouse again? If so, then I've had the same issue on a few PC's. It loads, it just takes longer than normal, sometimes its taken as long as 10mins for it to load.

Thanks for the replies guys...:)

No, I had overclocked the processor using the multiplier (Phenom II X2) before I flashed the BIOS but other than that everything was standard. After flashing the BIOS everything had been reset to stock settings as far as I could tell.

This is my mobo and I flashed to the newest BIOS (2105 from 0410):

duff dvd drive or disk?

Anything is possible, but I doubt it is the disk as this is the first time I've tried to use it since I originally installed Windows 7. The DVD drive has been working fine with games so I'd have thought that rules it out.

No I don't get to see the mouse cursor at all. After the BIOS screen it briefly asks me to hit any key to load/boot from the DVD, then there is a loading bar, and once that has finished it goes to the usual Windows 7 loading screen (the black background where it says 'Starting Windows'), but the Windows animation doesn't appear and nothing else happens. :(

Perhaps I need to wait longer, but I waited about 10 minutes last time before giving up.

Could it be that the old Windows 7 installation is interfering with my efforts to install?

Yay I fixed it!

Muppet of the year award goes to...moi!

I left a couple of USB peripherals attached and that was stopping everything.

I've just rolled back to an earlier restore point for now; think it is time to get myself an SSD so I'll do a fresh install then...

Thanks for the help once again. :)

I had a USB fan that did that. If you left it in while booting the PC, it wouldnt make it passed the POST screen.
