I am looking for an upgrade on my pc but im not sure how to go about it.

Currently i have:
CPU: Intel Pentium E5300 @ 3.70GHz
RAM: 4.0GB Dual-CHannel DDR2 @ 380MHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. G41M-ES2L (Socket 775)
Graphics: ATI radeon HD 5870
PSU: Antec Truepower New 650W
Case: antec 300 gaming case? (i think it is this but it looks a little different)
(if you need any more just ask)

i am looking for a CPU upgrade to a preferably a quad core but im not sure how to go about it. Could any of you spec me some new parts please for a budget of£215? i know it isn't much and i might be able to get it higher.

But be aware the H67 chipset wont allow overclocking, and you also need a "K" CPU for overclocking.

You can see the performance of the chips here - http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core-i5-2500-2400-2300.html - both very fast.

Thanks a bunch, especially for the quick reply! Just a couple of quick questions, would all that be able to fit inside my case? Some people have told me that is is an odd sized case and the motherboard i have at the moment barely fits in it. Also currently my GPU covers up all of the pci express slots due to it's size and i would quite like to be able to use a sound card, with these motherboards would i be able to?

What is your case? you say you are not sure, is it a Antec 100? can you get a picture up?

Heres pictures of both boards.

H67MA-E35 (B3) - http://www.msi.com/product/mb/H67MA-E35--B3-.html#Spec

P67A-C45 (B3) - http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P67A-C45--B3-.html

Unless your 5870 has a triple slot cooler on it? unlikely. then you can still get access to a PCI-Ex1 slot directly below on both boards, if you get a sound card thats just pci and not pci-e then you can use the bottom slot on either board away from the graphics card.

It looks like the antec 300 gaming case (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-101-AN&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=) but it doesn't have the grill on the top and the grill on the side has a small one on the top and a big one on the bottom top(small one: estimated 5cm h and 20cm w big one: 30cm h 20 cm w) and they are separated by about a 3 cm gap. The front looks the same ish. the grill at the bottom pokes out a bit in a v shape and doesn't have the two bars going up the sides. other than that it looks the same.

Any chance of a inside picture, thats clear? the ruler does help suggest its a mid tower size case, which will take both boards.

But I will say the cheaper spec above uses a mATX motherboard which is more certain to fit, the other board is a full size ATX.

Loads of room.

You can see how fitting a full size ATX board will line up against the bottom expansion slots.
