I installed a TRUE Black 120 earlier today, and wasnt too impressed with the temps of the cooler. It is cooling my Q6600 at idle at 36,36,33,33. Now not being funny or anything but this seems a bit pants.

Should i be getting lower temperatures than this?

Case is a P182

Have you gone from the stock cooler? What temps were you getting with that?

Might be worth re-applying some thermal paste and see if that makes a difference.

I suppose the idle temps are not as important what are the load temps like?

Maybe your thermal paste application is slightly too much? I'm getting 26,25,21,27 with a Noctua heatsink. Case temp is reported to be 21 degrees.

EDIT - Sorry thats undervolted. Temps with 1.35vcore is 29,27,22,30 IDLE with realtemp. Ands as previous poster said, idle temps are not all that important, its the load temps that count. ;)

48,48,45,43

I know that it was much better with my tuniq tower i have before though, and this cooler is meant to be on par with it from what i heard if not better. The CPU is lapped, and the cooler is stock, as it seemed fine on the glass. I also have a 120mm fan pushing air through.

If the temps were better with the tuniq I would definately try re-seating the cooler and applying the paste again.

I would think it would be the same or better aswell.

sure your fan's going the right way? Stupid question but I have put them on backwards in the past lol.

I just have a £5 cooler and i get 28-35 idle, so would definetly re-seat.

When doing the screws, do them a turn at a time, rather than doing each one all the way. To try get a constant, decent contact
