Right I am looking at going sandy bridge and would really like to just upgrade my pc rater than go for a full new system. Problem being I really don't know where to start on upgrading and working silly hours really have a lack of time.

Would it be easier (but more expensive) to just get a new rig or would paying someone to upgrade my current pc and get it running be a viable option. I have the thermaltake lcs case and quite happy with the cpu liquid cooling it has. So what sandy bridge bundle with the 2500k would be best if going the upgrade route with a 60 gig ssd and a new water block for the cpu.

Anyone in the west mids fancy earning some money hint hint lol.

Currently using
case lcs armour lcs case
Asus p5e mobo
q8400 cpu
5870 gfx
Coolermaster 850 psu
soundblaster xtreme gamer sound card.
Think thats about it.

So the PSU, GPU, Sound card are keepers.

Are the drives IDE or SATA?

And then the case, keep it or not?

Im sure someone will sort you out.

Budget?
You can reuse the PSU,GPU,Sound card and the case ( If memory serves thats a pretty mice case)

I wouldnt pay someone else to upgrade it, they will more than likely rip you off or add a large premium.

Budget 500 600 quid. Keep the psu drives are wd caviar blacks x2 so there fine as well. Pretty much the mobo cpu ram and a water block I need right now. Also a small ssd for the os.

A closed loop water cooler such as a Antec620 will fit on the back hopefully, or just stick to a air cooler such as a Gelid tranquillo.

Already got the watercooling just need a new block or possibly back plate only? Defo wan't a ssd and sandy bridge. I think with my time restraints it would be easier to buy a full system.

Don't bother with a new water block, there's nothing wrong with the one you have and anyone you buy will show little/zero difference in temps.

I used the Kandalf LCS for a few years and it was fine. Pump eventually gave up and I switched to a CM 690II and a CM V8 cooler.

Get the mobo/cpu/ram. Forget the SSD, waste of money IMO anyway! Buy another GPU and get a crossfire setup going. Your PSU can handle it and the 2500K will be a nice companion.

Sounds good to me. Already changed the pump from the original set up as i died on me. What size tubing will i need as i might as well replace that as well while I upgrade. You say don't change the block so the one i have will work ok with the different socket then?

The blocks come with different fittings for different sockets. You will only be using the LGA775 fittings just now. I doubt your Armour came with backplates for the new 1155 sockets. Hmmm... new block might be in order.

What's wrong with the current tubing?

P.S. So it wasn't just my Thermaltake pump. I suppose I could have just replaced it, but it was a crappy case... much happier with my CM690 and air cooling.
