My brand new rear wheel needs truing. Would you agree? Would these be an upgrade to the stock Giant S-R2 wheels on the Giant Defy?

Yes, but you could just spend £10 getting the existing wheels trued.

I'm not even sure I'd worry about such a small wobble.

Just ask them to have a look at it's first service.
