Hi all,

I've just been given a PC Chips A33G AM2 mobo and, feeling like an upgrade, I purchased an Athlon 64 X2 4800+ processopr for it. Booted it up after slapping it all togther to see a message saying that the processor code was not supported by the board and that I should contact the vendor for an upgrade. Now I already have the update but how do I install it? The BIOS halts with a "fatal error" without ever giving me the chance to enter the BIOS menu or reach any sort of prompt. BTW the BIOS is an AMI.

I have already emailed PC Chips support and, frankly, I'd rather not buy a new chip simply to do a BIOS update. Any ideas folks?

Chris.

Well I managed to solve this problem. I used a company called BIOSFLASHUK (http://www.biosflashuk.com/index.html). I ordered a new BIOS chip (I could have gone for a reprogram but I was too impatient), emailed them the BIOS file and within 48 hours I was up and running. You can imagine my relief as I was in a clasic Catch 22 situation. I couldn't get the PC to boot because it needed a BIOS update but I couldn't flash the BIOS as the PC wouldn't boot!

If you have BIOS problem (such as bad flashes) I can heartily recommend this service.
