well I've got this:

[10:14:06] Quit 101 - Fatal error: Box exploding.
[10:14:06]
[10:14:06] Simulation instability has been encountered. The run has entered a
[10:14:06] state from which no further progress can be made.
[10:14:06] This may be the correct result of the simulation, however if you
[10:14:06] often see other project units terminating early like this
[10:14:06] too, you may wish to check the stability of your computer (issues
[10:14:06] such as high temperature, overclocking, etc.).
[10:14:06] Going to send back what have done.
[10:14:06] logfile size: 17405
[10:14:06] - Writing 17958 bytes of core data to disk...
[10:14:06] ... Done.
[10:14:06]
[10:14:06] Folding@home Core Shutdown: EARLY_UNIT_END
[10:14:09] CoreStatus = 72 (114)
[10:14:09] Sending work to server

in my logfile, can anyone offer any advice as to what happened? The machine is my main dev box, old school P4 3.0 in a laptop running SQL Server 2005 Visual Studio 2005 and some seriously memory hungry apps (3D mapping and visualization stuff)

On another note, do I get any points for it?

Run!! :D

You can post on the forum about it. See how many points were credited and if it's a bad wu. If it's been crunched and eue'd by somebody else it will be removed. Quote the numbers so they can look it up.

I had a couple of these recently on odd things like the doble Gromacs core. It does say it might be the normal end of the unit and I got points for them so I didn't worry.

When it says that you will generally be getting partial credit for it (hopefully about the same amount as you've completed)

Stanford are usually pretty good at getting these WUs out of circulation - though it is still annoying that they didn't get spotted at the beta and advmethods stages :o

I've just noticed that my total score jumped 101 points and 3 WU between 16:00 and 19:30 so I suspect a borg has hit a string of EUEs.
