does anybody know if the unvented cylinder can go in a loft or garage? Any problems with doing so?
Also, will my 14 years old boiler work with unvented cylinder or would I need to change the lot?
Thanks

You could put it in the loft or garage provided it can bear the weight, but you need to comply with Building Regs for the discharge pipework from the pressure relief valve. The tundish needs to be visible.

There's no requirement for a new boiler with an unvented cylinder. They still heat indirectly via a coil in the cylinder like a normal cylinder.

Op - I've got a 300L Worcester Bosch unvented cylinder in our garage. It's fine, perfectly compliant with regs, good place for it in fact. They just need to ensure all pipes are fully lagged in an unheated space, including the main supply.

Was put off having it in the loft due to the amount of reinforcement the joists would require to support such a large mass of water.

not sure putting such an item in the loft is a good idea

think about the safety aspect you potentially have 200L + of boiling water above your heads...stick it in the garage imo.
