Unwanted Cisco Bandwidth Throttling

Has anyone found a solution to their Cisco router (EA4500) throttling bandwidth to wifi devices?

On my phone I literally have to disconnect for 10 seconds and reconnect to get back up to full speed! I initially started using QoS to manage priority but ended up disabling the feature after it continued to throttle high priority devices.

Any ideas? Please!!

It's not too 'techy', it's just a very specific problem you have with an individual model of router and the device(s) you're connecting to it.

You haven’t provided any information that’d allow any general discussion. In the absence of someone with the exact same router, and the same problem, there isn’t much anyone could add.

You've presumably checked that the firmware is the latest, and that it isn't a known problem?

I only updated to the latest firmware after making the post (Cisco revoked a rather 'snoopy' portion of their user agreement since the last time I checked), but unfortunately it's made no difference what so ever.

I assumed it would be common since I've bought three different model Cisco routers amongst family and every single one have this same issue. I've had to return one since it would disconnect all devices and require a reboot every day.

Just to close the topic, I found a bug in my router which would prevent me from assigning port forwards. So that was a huge clue that things weren't right and I reset, flashed to an older firmware then back to the latest and couldn't find any bugs. After that I setup my phone to have top priority in the Quality of Service setting and suddenly it's working at full speed now.

So after a year of crappy WiFi reception with this (at the time) top end pricey router, it was a firmware bug after all.

Just because it's expensive it doesn't mean there aren't bugs :p

Every platform has a bug somewhere lol. It's expected.
Glad you got it sorted.
