Hi to all,

I just had an unwanted update of my Win7 system to Windows 10 and although I do like the new OS, I am really worried about how much information is communicated to MS. I understand that it's a lot harder to keep your privacy with the new technology, but want to somehow restrain all these data exchange with MS central servers. Any tips? Any comments?

Thx

Don't forget to disconnect your computer from the internet too - you did say you wanted privacy right?
Sunglasses and a large hat, no internet and a fake beard should just about solve that. Could melt your own fingertips off and have your teeth replaced with a false set...

My tip would be to do some actual research about what sort of information Windows 10 transmits before getting into a panic about it.

Actually, there's a lot that the privacy settings (or those that are smart enough not to use the express settings option during the initial setup) section doesn't cover so if you want your tinfoil hat to be big enough (that is of course a joke) then the following video should have some more options.

And just FYI that guy used to work for microsoft until about a year ago when they fired him and a lot of his peers.

this is what i used/did

If you want to use win 10 and have privacy - just disconnect it from the internet

Even if you switch all the settings to privacy it will still make lots of connections to the internet without asking

There's a balance between sharing some information and sharing so much that your bombarded by ads and updates to the point the machine its becomes unusable. Or that your personal security is compromised. I don't think people just just give up on security because its too hard either.

Right, the most annoying thing is the key logger, why does MS care what we type & I don't want the wrong person (well no person) getting what I type... Even if you just game in windows you log onto a game you pay to play each month, a hacker gets the account info & then s/he can log in to get your payment info...

I hope you don't use chrome/gmail/android as they aren't far off/more intrusive into your privacy in other ways.

Unusable? Lol, calm down.

The key logger was only in the Preview releases.

LOL

Problem with MS now is they have lost a lost of trust and goodwill. Because they did a lot of underhanded stuff and denied it until they were forced to back track. So it hard to believe anything they say now. People view them the same as Faceache or Oogle in terms of data grabbing.

That's probably the direction they decided to go in after they fired over 100 of their staff almost a year ago.
