Unwanted Windows updates?

Hi there! I am about to download the Windows Updates that are reccomended by MS site, but i think i read somewhere about 1 or 2 updates that ruined some games. They whould't start at all or the performane dropped significantly...... well, i can not remember.
Should i do it? Is one in particular i should avoid?

Ive only ever had one problem regarding games not working. I had to remove the KB 917422 security update to get Chaos Theory to load.
