Right i have worked my arse off since i left uni and managed to save a bit of money and want to get a nice car.

I am 22 and have no need for a big car and have bee eyeing up some 2 seaters.

I am thinking about the 3.0 litre Z4 roadster what do you guys reckon to this car?

Any better alternatives?

*cough*

..would not be right if I did not whore my own!

Do you have any particular requirements? The Z4 chaps will no doubt give you all the info you need about them but the common contenders in this range seem to be the Boxster, MX5, S2000, Elise and sort of kinda the 350Z. What you end up with depends on what you are looking for.

I do like the S2000 but imo it doesnt quite look as nice as the Z4.

The boxster has also been on my mind but you get less for your money and the performance isnt quite as good.

The S2000 is pretty IMO, just early cars are said to be tricky! (on handling)
Later versions are spot on, having a car that goes to 9K RPM is one hell of a plus point, even more as they just go on and on!

Hardtops are available also!

I'd probably get the S2000 at your age, but you will be less likely to crash the Z4. Whatever you get, try and do some track days in it :)

That's a gorgeous picture btw Sin_Chase.

You have to be trying to crash an S2000 :D

All the power is high up in the rev range so normal driving should not prompt any drama. If you are stabbing the inputs and provoking it in the wet then you are asking for trouble!

I guess this goes for any car but the horror stories and widow-maker claims are far off base. The early cars are a bit twitchy but it's nothing you cannot sort out.

personally i'd take the s2k or elise.. :) well of course if you want something "modern with all the new stuff" take the z4.. would never get a roaster.. ugly :) the M coupe is much better looking

I just love the shape and the 18" 5 spoke rims on the Z4.

That 3.0 engine is also really good on economy also.

Other than petrol what are the running/maintanence costs like on the Z4?
