Update balloon

Is there any simple way of getting rid of that stupid balloon that pops up each time windows boots,and get rid of that little red shield looking thing?I have followed the instructions in the sticky but it is still there all that done was disable it.
 
as in ballon tips ? I see no reason to want to remove the red shield, it is a good thing :). everyone these days should have auto update on, the other 2 ya can click it to let another prog control this item. ( or somthing like that)

ballon tips are easy

Start a new notepad file, put in

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
"EnableBalloonTips"=dword:00000000


then save it as

balloon_remove.reg
 
start
run

services.msc

go to 'Security Centre' click Stop, choose disable

as bringans said, best to have AV / firewall + automatic updates all turned on, unless not on the net

download TweakUI to disable balloon tips and some other tweaks inside it too (made by MS)
 
Thanks,I will see what happens when i restart.

I always do the updates manually when i want to, when i'm not doing anything else.
