Update BIOS without OS?

Hi guys,

As the title suggests, can/should I update my motherboards BIOS before installing an OS?

The reason I ask is that I intend on building from scratch, and as there are updates for the BIOS of the board (Z77 MPower) I thought it'd be a good idea to get those done and out of the way - That way, when I get the OS installed I can go ahead with an overclock and run stability checks and such.

By using the inbuilt flashing tool in the bios you can indeed update the bios without installing a OS.
