Update killed my Xbox360

Haven't played on my Xbox360 for months... turned it on today and it asked to update. Everything went smoothly, downloaded the Civilization demo and tried to play it but it locked up within 60 secs three times in a row.

Now I just get 4 red lights and the DVD tray won't open.

Launch day 360 aswell :(
 
Well the 360 was upstairs on the LCD TV using the VGA lead for HD. I moved the 360 downstairs where it's cooler onto the big TV just using the normal SCART... both do the same thing.

Also it worked first time even though all 4 red lights were lit but locked up after 60 secs.

EDIT - I also fail to see what the lead has to do with the 360 locking up and freezing..? :(
 
Beats me, I was going strictly off the fact that you say it's 4 red lights and that's what 4 red lights refers to (taken from the sticky).

Guess your 360 is a goner whichever way you look at it.
 
Hmm tried registering the console with MS and as per usual it just grabbed all my personal info and then came up with an error :rolleyes:

I don't suppose some helpful fella has a phone number or email addy to hand for returning these 360's?

Some people in these forums probably have the numbers on speed dial honestly.
 
Well since this I've now just phoned MS to come and pick up their busted console twice and the new one they sent me has just self destructed it's DVD drive... quite glad as it was a real noisy bugger.

No way that was new, definitely a reconditioned drive :rolleyes:

So since my original died in June I've played on it about a dozen times and it's died twice more again!! The guy on the phone kept saying this is the last time this will happen and we'll definitely get to the bottom of these problems, lol.

My mate has had one die on him 4 times that list is the goodies he has had out of M$ FOC! (So far)

This is what I dont get - xbox owners seem happy to just buy a new console instead of moaning to microsoft. They must love the fact people are just buying new consoles when the old ones break - $$$$
