When I was installing updates in Ubuntu 11:10 it used to ask for password but now in longer does. Any reason for this I much preferred it when it asked for the password before installing ?

Does everyone else's do this ?

it's saved in your keyring! nothing else ...

Personally I don't use ubuntu, but say when I ssh around I have a keychain of my certificates which in turn does not require me to enter passwords left right and center

Ubuntu is pretty crap tbh, you're better off using a desktop based Linux OS incorporated into the Enterprise hence Fedora

yum is the king of kings

Saying Ubuntu is pretty crap is saying your ignorant! Clearly it is doing something right when it has one of the largest user-base at the NON-ENTERPRISE level! (with mint following closely behind)

yum is king ... well I beg to differ....
You cannot be serious! at least not until you have tried "portage"...
