Update on my first bike

which colour do you reckon i should get black or red my leathers and cloths are red and black and ive got rossies helmit :D

Black leathers negate the need to change if you end up with another bike any time soon. Did you get the faired version or the nekkid one ? sv650.org is your friend btw :)

Awesome :D yea sv650.org is a valuable resource lol, and unless your planning on keeping the bike for ages get some universal leathers so u dont look like a tit when u get a new bike :p

My helmit is yellow rossies :D also im getting the faired one i carnt wait to get it every day is going so slow till i get it.

good lad! nice to see annother OCUK biker, there are a nice first bike, quick enough, but nice and soft/unlikely to bite you in the ***!

Ride safe, and if your anyway near me in cheshire I'll be happy to take you out for a run/give you some tips (unless you have rossi skill to go with your rossi helmet, in which case you can teach me special one!).

Black leathers are incredibly boring, buy some nice bright ones, people will see you better also! Colour coding isn't the be all and end all, my bike is bright yellow, boots are white, leathers are blue/white/black, gloves are blue and black, helmet is white blue and orange! :D

hehe no ive only ever done motorcross biking hehe, ill hold you to that need all the help i can get. and yeah bikes rule my hearts with them :D

also my leathers are yellow helmit, black pants red and black jacket and red and black and white boots and gloves

Back brake can be a pita in winter as it cruds up easily, overall finish isn't great (even just chucking a bucket of water over it after a winter ride will be time well spent). Bars can be a little harsher on the wrists than the nekkid version but once you get used to the Vtwin you can go everywhere on the back wheel without much effort. Respect those oil change intervals though!

As for leathers i'm still saying black, You get no more notice from other road users if you look like a power ranger ... infact they are probably more likley to swerve into you as they laugh manicly :) I used to wear de badged police issue high vis and that STILL didn't work though strangely I parked up in a layby one day and was pulling on my gloves with my arm outstreatched and everyone slowed down  :D

Nice first bike i hear, never ridden one though. Enjoy it of course and just have fun.

As far as the leathers go, get the black set as they suit pretty much anything and if/when you get another bike you don't look like a plonker!

Motorcycle News (IIRC) did a big piece on visibility of motorcyclists and found next to no difference in the statistics for those who wore black and those that wore hi-vis stuff.
Black makes you silhouette quite nicely so people can see you are a biker and this registers in their brains quickly.
Hi-vis does what it says on the tin and is more effective than the black, but only by the same percentage as having your headlight on.
Multicoloured leathers/textiles ends up camouflaging you against the background and suffered the most accidents where a car pulled out into their paths. Have a look for the term "dazzle camouflage" where the effect is the same as that of power ranger suits :)

Not saying dont wear hi-vis though, every advantage you can get against numb brained car drivers the better!
