Is it too early to start talking about this? nVidia announced a 260 with more SPs, still 65nm from what I gather. Sounds like an emergency measure. It would almost certainly tip the mid-high end market back in their favour as 4870 and 260 are going neck and neck. You can find evidence to support both cards being the strongest.

If this 216SP 260 releases at a fair price (lol) what might ATi do? Simply cut prices and keep shouting about bang for buck? Marketing-wise that would seem foolish as they're on top in the high-end.

Will the 1GB 4870 ever see the light of day? The GDDR5 has a lot of OCing potential, if they have enough high binned parts they could just release a "new" card between the 4870 and X2 maybe? And I don't mean non-reference cards, I mean like a 4870 1GB Pro Turbo :D

All I know is, I ain't upgrading just yet.

Well according to ucuk shop the 1gb 4870 is already out m8.

I think I heard that ati will eventually go down to a smaller nm on their current cards
