Updated transfers in FM2007?

You download the file. Then unpack the database files to a folder on your PC. To the db folder in your FM install is a good place.

Then you start a new game. You cannot use the files from the links to get the transfers unless you start a new game.

cheers, can you advise which is the best update to use?

also does it matter where i put this new file - will the game still know my pc has it so to speak?

Well I use an FM Weegie database. You need to put in one of two places for the game to pick it up when you start a new game in FM.

Unpack it where it is now. So wherever you downloaded it to, unpack it there. It might end up being a folder with another folder in it. You need it so that when you go into the folder you see the files. So if its in a subfolder, you need the subfolder.

This folder needs to be moved either to C:\Program Files\FM07\data\db\. You should see two folders in the db folder, 700 and 702. These are the databases from the original game and the 7.0.2 patch. If you haven't installed the 7.0.2 patch you won't see the 702 folder. You should install the 7.0.2 patch though. ;)

OR

There is a 'Sports Interactive' folder in your My Documents folder. So the alternative is Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2007\db\.

So you should either have C:\Program Files\FM07\data\db\FM Weegie Update OR Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2007\db\FM Weegie Update.

When you put the folder in either location both FM and the editor should see the new db and allow you to select it.

No probs. I know its caught a lot of people out and caused the FM Weegie team a load of hassle trying to explain it. It doesn't help that they archived the folder rather than go into the folder and archive the files that way, if that makes sense. It means when people unpack it they have a folder within a folder which screws FM up. A bit silly to get annoyed with people when they are half causing the problems themselves.

Well not quite. ;)

You can download a savegame thats had the first season played but its not exactly what people would want.

As for updated transfers, http://fmweegieupdate.proboards92.com/. Updated every week on a Friday at 6.30pm. :)

I have been using the weegie update only and think its great + the latest one is bang up to date with the deadline and is so easy to use just extract the fm weegie folder to the DB folder load the game up start a new one and select the fm weegie database :) .
