Updates do on 360 games?

Whenever i recieve an update for a game on 360, it doesnt tell me what it updates? and why it updates?
any clues?

i never does its a bit of a pain, only place i tend to find the info out is on the xbox forums, gives an indication of whats fixed, but a lot fo times there is not even an official release for the patch the only thing i could think of the improve on live i think, but a lot of folk dont care.
