Hi,

I have been losing my network connection and getting the yellow exclamation mark. Restoring the computer to an earlier time, say about two weeks, ago fixes the problem for a few hours then it goes again.

I think it must be an automatic update that is causing the problem. It could be Windows 7, Mcafee Security Centre version 11, or some Dell update. The computer is only a few months old.

Can anyone help me with this?

Are there any other PCs on your network, and do they keep working ok? You could try setting a static IP address?

Have you tried disabling Windows Updates and seeing if the problem stops?

My wife's laptop works fine.

I will try disabling Windows Update, but what do I do then!

Probably the good old Mcafee bug. http://service.mcafee.com/faq/TS101446.htm

Sadly, this combined with their false positive history is a reason for me to never use them.

Anyone else having problems like the OP? Since over a week ago I have 4 PC's which are dropping connection 2 at work and 2 at home. The 2 at work are using Group N one is running XP and the other W7 (same at home except one used Group G), using a Netgear router at work and a BE box at home.

All wired PC's are fine.

The W7 with group N at home sees about 8 wireless connections and one by one they dissapear till there are no networks available and will not reappear till the adaptor or windows is re-set.

Any ideas as it's really doing my head in!
