My friend just recently bought loads of parts and I went to his to build his computer and after it wouldn't boot I realised he had bought an Ivybridge CPU and a motherboard that was on the version that only supported sandybridge.

My first thought was to see if we could buy a really cheap CPU like a celeron and update the bios off that then use the ivybridge CPU but i've read we need a sandybridge to update to ivybridge bios, is this true?

his CPU: i7-3770K
his mobo: P8H67-M

The motherboard supports it but only past a certain update that the bios hasnt been flashed to yet

You could return the board under DSR if it is within 7 days, new and from a business seller. Then swop it

He bought it ages ago

reckon I could buy a andybridge processor, use that to update it then send it back after, ill make it look new or are processors non returnable

NO COMPETITOR MENTIONING!
