Hello all,
A friend has asked to help with their special needs building network.
They have a basic Unifi network on BT Infinity 50/10. In a few months this will be upgraded to 1GB down. The current equipment is housed in Cellar 1.
Cellar 2 has some cabling/devices that need network connectivity (further APs etc) but running out of ports on the existing switch in Cellar 1.
My questions are:
1. Shall I upgrade the switch in Cellar 1 to a larger switch and take the cables directly from Cellar 2 to Cellar 1?
2. As above but put Cellar 2 cables into a patch panel in Cellar 2 and then take new cables from patch panel to Cellar 1?
3. Don't take multiple Cables to Cellar 1 from Cellar 2 but put a new switch in Cellar 2 and connect that to Cellar 1 with a single cable?
4. Given the connection will be speeding up in a few months, what do I replace the USG with (they want the threat protection features switched on)?
