Updating Bios. 5900x

So ive bought the asus crosshair viii hero, and the 5900x.

I havent got any other old amd cpus, am i still able to update the bios with the new cpu, or do i need to get an older amd cpu?

I think new boards will post to bios with no cpu in these days.

Never done it but you should be able to update bios from there.

You can check which bios your board arrived with via the bar code sticker, directly next to the cpu socket. Take note of the last 4 numbers on the lower right of that sticker as it will denote the shipped bios revision. Once you have those numbers, you can compare them against the version numbers listed on the Asus site.

I have the same board and it shipped with a bios that was too old for the 5900X. If you find the same, you can follow the instructions below and use the bios flashback function to get it ready. You do not need any cpu or ram installed on the board in order to complete the process:
