Updating BIOS on an IP35 pro

I updated to BIOS 16 over the summer but now i've noticed their is a BIOS 17. I'm getting some faster RAM soon and i want to overclock my E8400 more (currently at 3.6GHz). Would updating the bios help much, don't want to do it again if their will be no difference.

Also is 1.4V safe with a 45nm cpu or will it degrade a lot faster?

Doubt the later bios will increase speed, they're mainly for cpu compatibility.

1.4v is considered high end but safe enough. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
