Updating bios on laptop from usb

Afternoon
Not really sure where this goes, so posted in general
I am trying to flash win8 laptop and revert back to win7.
Ran into a brick wall. Deleted about 5 partitions of win8 with parted magic only to find out that bios cannot support large usb sticks. My guess anyway, there is a bios update available but with win8 gone I cannot run asus utility to update. there is no ezflash either

Can anyone suggest anything? Cheers

Does it not boot at all when you select your USB to boot from?

The only usb I can use is under 2gb. I've tried 8gb and 32 neither worked

Is the USB stick formatted as FAT32?

I used win to usb tool to make them both. They work on another laptop and my pc which I format a lot. Not really sure what the problem is. I need to update bios on the laptop using bootable usb or install win8, update bios and re-format to win7

Can you burn a CD/DVD?

I can, winxp isn't detected. When trying to install win7 from dvd it gets to the flags and stalls

I think my only option now is to try and install win8. Doing that now. Will update, not sure but might help someone in the future

has latest bios. I am officially stuck
