As title suggests really, never tried doing this before, rarely even think of it. As with anything new like this I am a little hesitant. Been on the Gigabyte webby and had a brief look. Wasn't entirely sure what I was doing but I may send them an email to make sure I download the right driver. Any pointers please?:)

dont do it unless you need to, as in check the bios revision history, if theres major/useful changes from yours to the latest then go for it, if not dont bother, the risk outweighs the reward
use a usb pen and do it from your bios, not windows, asus has ezflash and im sure gigabyte has an equivelent, cant remember name of it now though

Thanks 95thrifles you've been most helpful today, did kinda wonder if it was really worth it. Have heard no shortage of horror stories about this and related matters.:)

As 95th rifles has said, only update your bios if a newer revision brings features that you really need. A while back i had to update the bios on my asus p5q deluxe so that it would fully recognise the q9550, i used the asus ezflash utility in bios from a usb flasgh drive, an extremely useful utility, and much safer than flashing from within windows.
