Updating Halo 2

Hi Folks,

I bought Halo 2 today for my 360 to see if I get back into it in time for the release of halo 3 beta. I am currently uodating it and downloading the map packs but it is taking ages! I am on the first of 3 (the 3 map packs that are free to download) and it is half way there after well over half an hour. Does it always take this long to download them and am I going to be waiting just as long for the other map packs? (I am currently downloading the maptacular pack)

Yeah halo 2 downloads always take ages.

IIRC they were quite fast when originally came out but I guess they reduced the bandwidth after then.

Hey,

I finally managed to get the 3 free map packs but when I go into the lobby and try and join a game it says that I don't have all the maps in rotation. Does that mean for me to join a random online game that I need to buy the new map pack (i know it's only 2 squid but I don't know if I canface watching that download bar anymore) so I have all the maps in the rotation? I'm struggling to get a game. I got this game so I could just jump into a random deathmatch but it's seeming harder than I thought.

Yes, I believe someone here mentioned that you need to buy the map-pack. This was brought in around the 16th April if memory serves me correct.

Where do I go to buy the maps, I can't find anywhere to add my credit card details?

EDIT: Ok managed to get my CC details in there but I keep getting the message "Purchase failed. You will not be charged for this transaction. Please try again later". Did anyone else have similar problems to this. I can't see the servers being busy still!

Yeah thats a common problem. You just have to keep trying iirc

I believe you can still play 3 match types without the maps but can't remember what they were.

I've been trying to do this for ages and I still can't get it! I have tried a method that I found on a few websites too where you try to download it with a silver account and then change to your gold account when it is denied but that doesn't work either. Is there anything else I can do to get it?

All that happens is the download screen appears and the progress bar just goes from 0% to 100% in a second and then I get the afformentioned message.

Damn it, it's still doing it. Does anyone have any other suggestion on how I can get these new maps?

I have been repeatedly failing to download the maps for the last 2 hours and still have got no where. I have checked on xbox.com that my Credit card is on ok which it is. Is there anything else I can do?

Irs a long shot and I'm sure you won't be happy with this suggestion.

But you could delete all your Halo stuff from your hard disc and start over.

Mine each finished in 10minutes or less (<150MB) and the larger 225Mb took around 15-20 minutes this was at about 2pm this afternoon

Mine took all bloody night last night. The big one took a whole episode of Hustle to dl

It also seems that if your controller disconnects it pauses the DL

Might be slow since you both are trying it around peak times. Bungie runs their own content servers for the maps if I remember correctly, since microsoft didnt have the marketplace back then. Could be down to them limiting the bandwidth during peak times, people hammering the servers to re-download them or them being tight gits and putting it on a slower connection

When I did it this afternoon all the Americans were on their way to school/work and here they were still at school or work. So I had it all to myself

I managed to get the other ones, although they did take ages. I have just deleted everything from my hdd so I'll try and download them all tomorrow. The annoying thing is is that every time I want to download something for Halo 2 I have to switch from my monitor to a spare tv because it won't do it on the monitor.

I'll give it a go first thing in the morning, hopefully the servers won't be too busy then.
