Updating iPhone 4 - not happening (?)

Trying to update my 4 using itunes. It downloads fine, says its processing then says there was a problem because the connection timed out: wtf?? Wasn't really amused considering it was a 2hr download!
This happens everytime I try an update, which is several times now, tried switching auto-lock off on the phone. Not sure what else could be done.
Heres what I do:
* Plug the phone into the computer (USB) and it automatically detects it, fires up itunes and says theres an update available.
* I click on download and install (or something along those lines)
* Leave to download...

What am I doing wrong? Any advice/assistance pls!

What version is your phone running atm?

Most of the latest releases add nothing but minor security fixes, mainly to prevent jail breaking and isn't really worth the bother until iOS 5 is out.

All it means is that Apple's server is down, or being overloaded. give it a few hours and try again. Personally I wouldn't bother updating until the final version of iOS 5 gets released the 4.3.x's don't offer any benefits and you can't jailbreak 4.3.5 anyway
