Updating jailbroken iPhone (1.1.2) to v2.0

I've not come across this question but I would imagine it must be common...When the new v2.0 software for the iPhone comes out (next week?), will people with jailbroken phones have issues updating? I have not unlocked my iPhone and have been using my O2 contract SIM that came with the iPhone, I have just been taking advantage of 3rd party apps.

Can I just update from iTunes when the update comes or will this have a chance of brick my iPhone? Do I need to do a restore instead and are there any issues with this?

Thanks for any light shed on this issue!

yeah I know I will no longer be able to use installer.app, but there will be the app store. I stayed on 1.1.2 because as I remember it wasn't clear cut how I could upgrade to 1.1.4 and stay jailbroken without a lot of fuss, I haven't had time to research it in detail, hence my original question.

Is it not possible to just do a full restore and then update when v2.0 is out? I can then just resync and get back to business as usual?

Thanks again

The App Store won't be free. Nobody knows about the Firmware anyway, you'll just have to wait and see.

But yes, upgrading firmware has previously been simple.

...and most likely it will continue to be so.

I would hold back on updating until the situation has panned out. Official apps might be overpriced rubbish for all we know.

The App Store won't be free

I've not read anything on it for a while, but there was an option to use the Store to distribute free software - don't know how popular it'll be but the option was definitely there.

Sorry, I was generalising. Wanted to show the distinction between that and Installer.

I think the majority of software will be free. The larger apps and games will have a price tag. I hope so anyway.

Apps like the superb Intelliscreen (best iphone/touch app imo) started off as beta models on installer.app and the moment it hit v1.0 it became a commercial app for $19.99. I currently use it on my jailbroken touch and it is without a doubt the most useful app ever for me now.
