I have been asked to bring our MP's up to date. We have a large number of Microsoft ones, so should be a case of updating them directly from the online catalog SCOM 2007.

Is there anything else I need to do first. I have backups of the custom MP's containing overrides. Any other good practice to follow?

Also does anyone have any good maintenance guides to follow, i.e. daily/weekly/monthly maintenance tasks to do? As part of my new role I'm not responsible for SCOM but my knowledge is a little out of date as I haven't touched it for a while

Thanks

OK, I put the question over to a couple of SCOM PFEs. I'll let you know when I get a response.

So in response to your questions - you should have a nightly backup of the override management packs as a scheduled task, should also ensure that all overrides are documented somewhere. The best practice document to follow is http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc974486.aspx .

It’s very important that the management pack corresponding guide is read before implementing the management pack as the environment might need pre-requisites installed/configured.

Check out this blog; http://blogs.technet.com/b/manageabilityguys/ and feel free to drop any questions in the comments area. (Manageability guys is my teams blog).

does that help?
