Hey all

The following spec has fueled my comp for about 4 years now (poss 5?)

Gigabyte ds3r
E8400
4gb corsair dhx
pny generic 8800gts 512mb

And has been great, but I wonder whether I'll struggle to play any of the upcoming titles: Saints Row 3, MW3 etc comfortably..

The biggest driving factor for an upgrade being I've found some money (Tax rebate! :D)..

At the moment I'm looking at an SSD and a Killer NIC..

Could I make a noticeable graphics upgrade with the remaining £100 - or would any new graphics card be bottlenecked by my relatively old cpu now?

Cheers

a network card will do precisely bugger all, especially in a lower end PC.

a review of them showed that it reduced your ping by ~2ms at best and didnt make a measurable difference for framerates. the only good thing they had to say about it was that the cards software allowed you to set priorities on downloads, which let you game with a reasonable connection and download stuff at the same time.

spend the money on a bigger graphics card :)
also, as the above have said, whats the make and model of the PSU

The network card was just a thought, in a house of xbox gamers at the moment and my ping's dipped a lot in the evenings.

Didn't buy a mobo supporting sli in the first place - waste then waste now.

PSU is a Corsair HX620, so I'm good for juice.

Would a 6870 be bottlenecked by my E8400? And is there much difference between it and the 6850?
