Updating XP license key from Pro to Home

Hi

I have have a friend whose laptop currently fails MS's WGA. Having bought a copy of XP home I want to change the license rather than reinstall Windows if possible. The problem is currently Windows XP pro is installed and the new license is for XP home.

Is it possible to update a Windows XP license key from pro to home?

Pretty sure this isn't possible unless you're prepared to do some serious messing about
