Hi, I have Vista running on a A64 3500 X2 (single core) 939 CPU, 2GB DDR1 ram, and a geForce 7800GTX card on a A8N-SLI mobo.

I am wanting to beef up my hardware as Vista is sluggish, also, I want to be able to view 1080P content which frankly stutters along at the moment.

Looking on the OCUK site, I have two current options for the CPU whilst keeping my present mobo, the 3800 at £99 and the 4200 at £199. (Before there was a 4800 which I almost bought, waited, and now cannot find anywhere)

Would the 3800 dual core be a worthwhile update for the price?

As for the 4200, Im reluctant to spend £199 on a CPU which seems to be out of favour with Conroe 6600 at the same price that I assume is much better. I think given the choice were I to have to do that Id prefer to buy a whole new CPU/MOBO/Ram for £400ish.

Im not a gamer, so will keep my GFX card as long as is possible. My Vista is OEM and has been activated for the A8N-SLI mobo so I could well lose that (unless anyone knows otherwise) annoyingly enough if I have to change mobo.

I had my eye on this bundle - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-037-OK&groupid=701&catid=339&subcat= - if the 3800/4200 option is pointless.

Thanks for reading :)
