Hello Everyone - im currently using an old 939 single cpu rig and am looking to upgrade now i have had a half decent payrise at work, been doing some research as best as i can since its been 3 years since i built this rig and things have changed, was wondering if it is all compatible and is there any overkill areas which i could calm down,The machine will purely be for gaming, processor and gfx card are a definate, also can i add another gfx card exactly the same for crossfire? (never used crossfire so haven't a clue)
Any help and advice would be great - thankyou.

already have a Thermaltake Kandalf case, hard drives and dvd drives.

Looks pretty good considering you haven't been paying attention for the past few years. If you want to save cash though you could go with an Asus Maximus motherboard based on the X38 chipset which offers near enough exactly the same features and performance albeit no support for 1600mhz FSB CPUs. You could also change the Ram for something like this OCZ PC8000 which still offers more than enough performance for overclocking but costs about £50 less and is in stock.

maybe be worth getting an asus zonar sound card instead of a creative one with mroe and more newer games using dolby digital instead of the methods creative has on the card....

The onlt thing I would change is the memory. I think it's overpriced due to water blocks etc and don't really see there being to much of a performance increase.

Asus Xonar D2X 7.1 PCI-Express Sound Card - Retail

Corsair TX 750W ATX2.2 SLI Compliant PSU (DOES SLI PSU WORK WITH CROSSFIRE?)

Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB) Supplied with Airflow Fan (TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF)

Have made these changes, sound card sounds great - thankyou for bringing it to my attention :)
750W power supply for when i get another gfx card some months down the line,
and memory looks good and cheaper than the water cooled ocz.

total price now 50 quid cheaper than before too,

The PSU will be fine, it has more than enough power and it doesn't matter that it is SLi compliant, it will work with Crossfire as well.

Just because I'm a bit curious, you've changed the Ram but again picked something that is pre-order only, any reason for this?

Pr-order - just means i will have to wait a bit longer (no rush) :)

Im also ordering Windows Vista , 64bit version, but premium or basic?, im rooting for basic because i cant see anything on the premium version i would miss, and would vista be ok on my raptor 34gb HD? i only have that hd and a 250 one thats going to be for games and storage.

go vista premium, might be wrong but iirc it allows hardware changes and you can re install, but please wait for someone to confirm.

I think you're confused, it's not the version of Vista that affects that but the license you aquire, whether it's OEM or Retail, the latter being the one that can be transferred to a system running a different motherboard.
