Okay, lets face it. My system isn't amazing, and it's starting to show its age in games. However I am faced with a bit of a problem. The motherboard has pretty much no further expandability :(

I've been looking around a bit, and this is the closest I could find to what I'm looking for.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £179.99
1 x ASRock Z77 Pro4 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £97.99
Total : £288.78 (includes shipping : £9.00).

But as you can see it is way overbudget, and to be honest I'm not sure my current CPU/Mobo would fetch much. Also, the motherboard has an 8pin CPU power, my PSU only has a 4pin. Guessing this would cause problems?

I believe the ram is 1.5v @ 1600mhz, I have to say both those builds look good, maybe combine them to make something like this?

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i3-3220 3.30GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £99.95
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £84.98
1 x OCZ CoreXtreme 500w '80 Plus' Power Supply £32.99
Total : £229.32 (includes shipping : £9.50).

Edit: Anyone know what the i3 will be like performance wise vs 3750k? Can't find any benchmarks atm

Hmm, I've had an idea, but I have no idea if it'll work. The problem is my motherboard is an OEM from HP. Does anyone happen to know of a program that could scan my PC and tell if it'll support this processor?

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965 Black Edition "125W Edition" 3.40GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail £94.99
Total : £103.69 (includes shipping : £7.25).

I know that Intel is better, but that would mean having to change the motherboard as well, if this processor will work in my motherboard I can fit a decent PSU into the budget as well

Okay, it's been a while and I've managed to stretch the budget to £300 MAX. So with this weeks offers this is what I've come up with.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Crucial V4 256GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive £99.95
1 x AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965 Black Edition "125W Edition" 3.40GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail £79.99
1 x MSI Z77A-G43 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £71.99
1 x Cooler Master Elite Power 500W Power Supply £32.99
Total : £296.92 (includes shipping : £10.00).

Please give me your thoughts :)

Oops, so I have. Thanks for pointing that out :P With regards to saving up a bit more, I think you're probably right. However I'm still very tempted with that SSD, as it'll speed up my pc quite a bit

Edit: Also any chance someone could recommend a good PSU? I don't trust mine as much as I used to :P

Any last thoughts/preferences before I pull the trigger on this? Also I was wondering if I would encounter any problems cloning the contents of my current drive to the SSD, or would it be better to do a fresh install?

Hmm, well budget wise it'd really be between the V4 and the Agility 3, but I'm currently leaning more towards the V4 as I've seen a couple of people have had problems with the agility, also if I bought a sata III drive it'd still be restricted to sata II speeds :P
