Hi Guys am a long term watcher first time commentator . I have a bit of a upgrade itch I have a titan X and a rog swift is it going to be beneficial for me to upgrade my CPU , Mobo and Ram ?

At the moment I have a 3570k , would I see any decent gains by getting a 4790k or a 5820k ?

Fairly open ended question really.

Yes you'd see gains but the question is are they a worthy gain?
If you play games or do things that can use the additional threads then yes, huge advantage. If not then no.

Next question is what is "worth" the upgrade?
A 5820K is probably £600 upwards and you'll get a reasonable improvement.
A 4790K would be slightly less to outlay but a 4790K only gives a few % over a 4770 which only gave a few % over a 3770K.

Depending on what you are doing, a 3770K may be the way forwards but if you're a spender then go 5820 and don't look back.

well basically a new upgrade would be for gaming , I do a bit of encoding but that's quite rare so gaming. I have eliminated the skylake series because of price to performance.

So do you think I should wait for new CPU to come out then upgrade ?

If your going dual gpu then i think it would be worth upgrading but in terms of cost then no.

As mentioned above 3770k is an option.

I don't think am going to go sli to be honest . Well I think ill keep the 3570k for now and keep an eye out to see a great deal on a 4790k or 5820k then ill make the plunge.

you know when you get the upgrade itch and you need to scratch it!!!

Stick a 3770k in there and clock the crap out of it, i run mine 24/7 at 4.6 but it will bench all day at 4.9Ghz+. between the 3770,4770 and the 6700 there is nothing bar a few fps between them, and certainly not worthy of a platform upgrade yet.

I recently upgraded to a 980Ti and have found that my 3570k is occasionally bottlenecking in certain games, notably gta v and witcher 3. The price for a 3770k on a popular auction site is around £170. Would this investment be worthwhile going forward, as more games start to take advantage of multi threading? I really don't want to upgrade my motherboard anytime soon so this is far as I can go
