Upgrade 4 year old 4k LG 49UH661V?

Getting the upgrade itch and looking at the 55" Samsung Q80T

I guess the question is has the tech moved on so much in the 4 years that it would be a noticeable upgrade?

Not looking at OLED due to the cost, worry about screen burn and finally having a 2 year old running riot!

4K HDR has improved a lot.

Personally I'd try and go for the 65" to make it more worthwhile coming from a 49" although I did go from 50" to 55" in the bedroom as that's the biggest that would fit in-between the two doors on the wall and it was a noticeable upgrade however you acclimatise within 3-4 days to the point it looks normal.

Yeah similarly to you I'm stuck in terms of the space with 55 being a push! May hold off until I can get to see in person.

Going from rtings though the Q80T seems a solid purchase

Turns out I literally cannot fit a 55 so going to have to opt for a 49 variant although it sucks as it seems the 49 versions lose a lot of features! Torn between still getting the Q80T or the KD49XH9505BU

That's an easy decision if it's purely picture get the Sony if it's ease of smart functionality get the Samsung.

And what happens if I want to throw in next gen gaming too?

A couple of years back I went to RS to buy an XE90 took the missus with me, that was a mistake... I ended up with a B7 oled instead at double the price she fell in love with the picture quality.

Yeah just wouldn't work in our living room (old property) ; maybe I'll wait until we can go browsing again and by some hope she falls for the same trick!
