Upgrade advice - 4080 pre-built system

Hi guys,

I’m looking to upgrade from my current gaming setup which uses a 1080ti, over to something I hope can give me ray tracing at 4k with decent frame rates (not much to ask for I know).

I play games that are pretty demanding like Cyberpunk, Starfield, Sons of the Forest, Bannerlord etc. and would want at least a consistent 60fps if possible.

I don’t have experience building my own pc so I’m naturally looking at pre-built options like these:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ocuk...kf-geforce-rtx-4080-pro-gaming-fs-1el-og.html

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/refract-gaming-indigo-1440p-4k-pro-pre-built-gaming-pc-fs-1dn-ep.html

I would say these are at the top end of my budget, hence why I’m not looking at 4090 options.

I would appreciate some advice on which of the two options above would give me the best performance for my use case, or if there are alternatives you would recommend.

I am open to building my own if it saves a substantial amount of money, but it’s not my preference.

Appreciate your help!
Ben

Thanks all.

Based on the info you’ve shared I think I’m looking for this but with a 7800X3D instead of the 7900. Unfortunately that’s not a configurable option, and when using the OCUK PC builder there’s no 4080’s to choose from but I’m not sure why… any ideas?

Thanks,
Ben

You’ll really want a 4090 if going 4k with RT/PT as it’s around 40% faster.

You could probably just about squeeze one in to your budget if you built the pc yourself.

If you can’t stretch to the 4090 then you should wait and see what pans out with the refresh parts coming this month as Nvidia are realising 4070 super, 4070ti super and 4080 super.

Ah is that this month, good point. I’ll see what happens and revisit.

Thanks for all your help.

I’m struggling to get this under or close to £3000 using the OCUK builder, so I assume ill need to buy parts individually and put together myself…

Any advice on a suitable build is more than welcome! I’m liking the look of a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and will try to get in a 4090, but I’m conscious I’m not clued up enough about other components to avoid bottlenecks and such.

Thanks, this is a huge help.

I’m enlisting the services of a friend who has a bit of experience in piecing these together. Will look to order this tonight.

Thanks again!
