Upgrade advice from an i5 2500

Hi all

Im looking to upgrade my pc and get it ready for the Oculus Rift which i have pre ordered

My current specs are as follows -

i5 2500 Processor,
8GB ram
GTX970 graphics card
2x 500GB SSD's

now im unsure which would be best i7 6700 or the i5 6700? cost isnt really a massive issue but i dont want to spend x amount of pounds to barely see any difference ha, Ive got my eye on this bundle deal https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...rboard-bundle-30-pounds-saving-bu-043-as.html

Any advice would be highly appreciated

I would stick with what you have, at least until Oculus Rift comes out. Once you have it up and running, then look at upgrading, if you think you still need to.

Is that a 2500K? if yes, do you have a P67/Z77 motherboard so you could overclock it?

unfortunately not! its just the standard 2500 which leads me to believe its time to upgrade. leaving me with the question of getting the most improvement over cost. I don't want to spend 400 odd pounds for a new cpu and motherboard to only see a tiny improvement ha

thanks for the reply! yeah this has crossed my mind a little. if I did this I would just have to hope the 970 can do the business
