Hey guys,

Had this system for just under a year, and was wondering what to upgrade (primarily for ARMA II, as it looks fantastic).

My current spec:

Case ANTEC 300
E8400 3.0ghz Wolfdale @3.6ghz
4GB Ram
EAH 4850@690/1127
Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L
Hiper580W

My thoughts were to go with a core i7 cpu with a new motherboard and possibly update the graphics card in the next couple of months (assuming DX11 cards don't come out till next year at a mid-price range).

currently willing to spend between £200 - £400.

thanks for the replies,

I wouldn't bother as it's not just the cost of the CPU, you'll need new RAM and a new motherboard. Although the upgrade is significant it will have little impact on the games you play.

I advise not upgrading the cpu/motherboard as i7 will make negligible difference for you.

Were it my system, I would get a vertex and lose the hiper. The hard drive is the biggest bottleneck in your system, and removing it will have the greatest impact

So a graphics card update is probably not worth it? What about a soundcard, like the Asus Xonar cards? At the moment I am only using onboard through my 2.1 logitech speakers.

No point with those speakers.

Get some 5.1 speakers and then maybe a sound card can just about be justified.

I'd probably upgradwe monitor to 24"depending what you have at the moment.

What resolution do you game on? a 4890 or GTX260 might be a nice upgrade if it's 1600x1050 res or higher.
