Hello I would like some advice if possible on what prioritise as next upgrade route

I game at 1440p on 144HZ monitor, currently game of choice is warzone on which I get around 100 fps average on fairly low settings would like to increase the settings and frames somewhat.

PC specs:

I5 - 9400f
RTX 2070super
MB - Asus PRIME H310- Plus (Fairly bad I know)
PSU - Corsair Professional Series HX 850W '80 Plus Platinum' Modular Power Supply
RAM - 16gb
Corsair H100i cooler and 6 fans

Now what I have been thinking is realistically the best way to get better frames and settings is to wait for an RTX 3080 which seems to be the sweet spot for value > Improvements but who knows how long this wait will be.

So really my question is would a new CPU/MB really make any noticeable difference?

For around £600-700 just short of the price of an rtx 3080 (or what they should be) i can get a
i9-10850k and ASUS Tuf Z490+ but would it be waste of time and just sit around waiting for the day we can get 3080?

Or which MB/CPU would you suggest if it would help?

This question is purely based on gaming

Maybe something like a 10400f with a B460 if you want a decent CPU upgrade while keeping some cash back for the 3080.

Will I gain much from it though?, I dont mind spending around £500-600 on it since it will be couple months at least to wait for 3080 i would imagine gives plenty of time to free some more cash up

For example ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS WiFi ATX Motherboard + Intel Core i7 10700K 8-Core CPU together is £500 but if its not really going to gain much not really worth it

Upgrading the cpu to go with a 3080 will give more fps but is the cost worth the increase in fps in most games? I doubt you will tell the difference with the naked eye in most games, so its for you to decide when the best time to upgrade your cpu. I would look for reviews of the 11400 and 11700k at the end of March, the 11400f is available for preorder at the same price as the 10400f

Thanks, seems like cpu makes very little difference in frames at 1440p
Since your CPU is only 6/6 an upgrade will definetly improve things especially for 1% lows and smoothness also if you upgrade to a 3080 then it's definetly advisable to get a better CPU, whether you wait a few months or upgrade now you don't really lose anything as it will still be around the same cost and you will gain some benefit from it even with a 2070 although if you can wait till the end of the year then AM5 / Alderlake should be out and these will use DDR5 so may cost a bit more but will have better futureproofing.

OK, well maybe I will wait and see how the I7 11700k does and get one of those with a b560 mb as it could be a very long wait for a 3080
