Considering a GPU upgrade for my partners system. I built it 5 years ago and is in daily use, considering the cost originally it has performed very well and continues to play everything however not at the highest settings.

I am currently considering a GPU upgrade, however I am unsure if the whole system holds it back to much and I have to consider a more expensive full upgrade.

Current Spec is:

FX 6300
8GB Ram DDR3
AMD 7850 2GB

I am considering buying a RX 570 8GB probably the MSI armour, since it is currently the cheapest. I would welcome opinions if it is worth it? or if the system needs a complete overhaul.

Thanks guys

The GPU upgrade would help though the FX chip "might" bottleneck an RX 570/580 - I'd suggest a rebuild if your budget allows for it and opt for the Ryzen 5 2600 chip (right now you can pick them up for £150 during black friday deals) with a B450 motherboard - a single stick of 8Gb DDR4 2400Mhz RAM minimum, if you can - reuse the hard drive(s) + power supply and case to save some costs and pick up a new GPU like the RX 570 you mentioned, total build cost would be about £400 at the most.

This all depends on what games your partner is looking to play though!
