I am looking at upgrading my mobo and cpu only if possible?

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H
Intel i5 3570K

Hoping I could keep the rest? (i.e. memory and CPU cooler?)

Is this possible going to the latest type of mobo and CPU?

What would you recommend?

95% of Skylake motherboards are DDR4, there are a few DDR3 boards but for the sake of saving £30 I would say that's pretty pointless. unsure about cooler. What improvements are you expecting to gain. do you know that your CPU is bottlenecking? your setup looks pretty good as it is.

I was thinking the mobo is quite old now and the new ones would offer more features for windows 10 and also the performance boost of the cpu :) (plus upgrade bug)

I think the cooler is fine but I need to contact Noctua about upgrade kit for free....

So looking at the 3 things I need I guess is cpu mobo and memory (looking at good sound?) what would recommend :)

I'm not sure what you mean by features. my CPU is way older than yours and I'm not ware that I'm missing out on any windows 10 features.. and whats the upgrade bug? I have upgraded 5 pcs to windows 10 without any issues and they are all older than your PC.

I think what your trying to say is you have the Upgrade itch and you need to buy something. Which I fully do understand :)

heres a quick basket without knowing your budget, ive picked a mid range mobo and entry level ddr 4 ram

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £367.43
(includes shipping: £10.50)

If you're going to upgrade your motherboard and CPU don't go for anything less than a modern core i7. Anything less won't provide a significant enough boost in performance to be worthwhile. That 3570k is still pretty good for gaming though. If I were you though I'd save the money for either one of the big Polaris/ Pascal chips. Either that or a really nice monitor/peripherals.
