gigabyte p77a-ud4
i7-2600k with Akasa venom cpu cooler
his ati radeon hd 6970
g.skill ripjawx 2x4gb
coolmaster silent pro 700w

Ok here goes, i would like to upgrade my memory as when gaming im reaching 75% usage
Currently, my cpu cooler is hanging over one of memory slots making it unusable and touching the other. What can i do? Would buying the Cosair Vengeance 16gb 2x8gb be a good idea?

Next question, the rear fan on my case broke and i replaced it with a cheap one. Which fan do i need to order so i can controll the fan speed with the others like it used to be?

and the last question. If i get another ati 6970 for xfire, will the 700watt power supply handle this? Especially as i will probably overclock the cpu back to 4.5ghz?

Also does it have to be the exact graphics card as i cant find it on overclockers, just some iceq turbo varient

Why upgrade the RAM?

If you're only using 6GB out of 8GB then you'll end up just using 6GB out of 16GB.

The original rear case fan was just molex powered from what I can see so I'm not sure how you controlled the speed.

You can CrossFire with any other HD 6970 (or a 2GB HD 6950). I'll ignore the HD 6990.

If you have this PSU then I'd say you'd be OK.
 
ahh i see what you mean, its just when im rinsing battlefield 3 and have a few webpages open windows drops back to basic and states it has low memory. Could this be another problem?

yeah i think its the b3, which ever one was recalled due to some deteriation or whatever but i cant be arsed to take it back and overclockers were abit unhelpfull aobut the situation.

hard drives a seagate barracuda green 2tb sata 6gb/s

So you have the original B2 Board?

The one that got recalled?
 
It's a B2 then if it's the "faulty" version.

That wouldn't have anything to do with RAM usage though.

If you do want to 16GB would low profile RAM fit under the CPU cooler?

That way you could just get another 2x4GB.
